Acting

The acting training that we provide will prepare you for your auditions or examinations and help with your amateur or professional acting career.  We cover all areas of acting technique including voice production, speech, accent, body language and text work.  Performances are rehearsed and prepared to the highest standard. In our individual acting sessions we focus on the technical skills required to sculpt an acting text into a performance ready for the stage.  The skills of each actor will be assessed and training is then adapted to meet their individual needs.

In the sessions we will look at all stages of creating a character.  Starting with the character’s emotional and mental state we examine their past life, their objectives and their desires.  Understanding the character’s social and historical context is also vitally important when creating a credible character since it will have a great impact upon their physical and vocal response to the text.  We ensure that your character’s actions and reactions are natural and spontaneous leading to a realistic and credible performance.

As with all of our sessions adults can bring a Pen Drive with them and we record the whole session in high quality MP3 format. You can listen to the recording and have your lesson over and over again, making it even more valuable.  We also make use of our in-house video facility to watch and assess your performance.

Acting classes can be taken by people of any age. The examinations start at age 8 and there is no upper age limit.  Children start at age 4 and work on voice, speech, response and expression in verse pieces before moving on to the more demanding work of an acting text.  Adults of all abilities are most welcome.
